Some days I’m helping someone learn English. Some days I’m writing a newsletter or crafting a web page. Some days I’m trying to help a tiny team make sense of everything they’ve got on their plate.
And some days I’m buttering rolls and serving soup at a community fridge.
It might look a bit all-over-the-place from the outside, but it doesn’t feel like that to me.
It’s all, in different ways, about helping people feel a bit more confident, a bit more valued, and a bit more able to do what they’re there to do.
Sometimes that’s finding the right words in a new language. Sometimes it’s shaping a message so it actually reflects what someone’s trying to say. Sometimes it’s creating a bit of space so people can focus and move forward.
And sometimes it’s just making sure people are fed, welcomed, and part of something.
I don’t have a neat label for it (I’m open to suggestions!) but I do know I like being useful.
And I like that moment where something shifts: when someone speaks up, or something clicks into place, or things just feel a bit more possible than they did before.
Even if it starts with a mug of soup.
